Hi, I’m Jack.

I am a fully qualified Equity Fight Director (with the Equity Fight Director Register) from West Yorkshire, UK . I am committed to delivering high-quality combat content for screen, stage and live events, both in my own choreography and as a performer.

The journey began in a cinema in Bradford. I saw Spider-Man (2002) with my dad, and I was inspired to spend my life creating things that could make people as excited as 6 year old me was that day.

From then on, I trained in combat sports - primarily SKU Karate (3rd Dan black belt), and Foil, Sabre and Epee fencing (Gold Master-of-Arms), eventually pursuing combat arts as a full time career. To support this aspiration, I continued on to become a fencing coach (level 3 foil) with the British Academy of Fencing, a Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA) instructor, and a Stage Combat Teacher.

My accreditations in Stage Combat were taken with Actors Combat Theatrical Training, the British Academy of Dramatic Combat, and the Academy of Performance Combat, examining at advanced level in over a dozen weapon systems. All of this was in preparation to apply to the Equity Fight Director Register, which I successfully joined (despite delays from the pandemic) in 2022.

Midway through this training, I graduated from Northern Film School with a BA in Filmmaking; since which I have gained a wealth of experience in the film and television industries - choreographing fight scenes, performing combat sequences, and arranging stunts for camera. With my lifelong love for the theatre, I have also taken these skills to the stage and other live events, where I can see audiences appreciating the thrill of a fight live in front of them.

My understanding of conflict and action doesn’t stop at what I can do physically. I take pride in the level of research and specialist knowledge that I include in my craft - thoroughly enjoying my continuing delvings into historical and contemporary armed and unarmed combat. I will happily sit and chat with you about swords for hours!

Additionally, I am first-aid trained, safeguarding certified, and have an up-to-date enhanced DBS.
